EL PASO-GRIDLEY INVITE
With temperatures near 90 Tuesday (Oct. 1), the Rebels Cross Country teams made their way to Furrow Farms just north of El Paso for the El Paso-Gridley Invite. The course is one of the toughest around with hills and the crossing of a creek 4 times which knee high in one spot. Basically using the races as a training run, the times were much slower than usual. In the Girls race, Olivia Frail (22nd - 23:48) was the first back at the finish for the Girls. A pack of 5 crossed the finish next with Paige Rewerts (36th - 25:05) leading the way followed by Josie Price (38th - 25:08), Ashley Orrick (39th - 25:08), Trinity Shimmin (41st - 25:18) and Alyssa Dyken (42nd - 25:18). Also running up hill to the finish were Lena Becker (74th - 27:20) and Sarah Fairfield (88th - 28:44). On their way home from the Invite (not waiting for awards), the Girls found out they had won a trophy for finishing 3rd out of 15 teams behind state ranked Eureka and Olympia. The Boys also ran in a pack during their race. Caden Daum (105th), Rilley Bowen (106th), Alex Welch (107th) and Payton Stahl (108th) finished with identical times of 22:58. Brett Browning (112nd - 24:19) was the fifth Boy to finish.
